A nearby mountain range where a major road takes you over
the mountain from Covas to Caminha and beyond.
This route is ideal for bird-watching and walking and there is an
information center and a beautiful picnic area on route.
Slightly further afield is the beautiful Peneda-Geres National Park.
The Rio Coura runs from Paredes de Coura into the estuary
at Caminha, where it meets the Rio Minho.
Both rivers contain trout. Canoing
and kayaking are also available on the Rio Minho by a personal link with
Galician Adventures in Spain. (They
can also arrange horse-riding).

There are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and
shopping. You might even catch one of the many spectacular
fiestas. Ponte de Lima has one of several good golf courses in the
area. It is 33 k from The
English House. Discounts
can be obtained with our card. Close
by to Ponte de Lima there is also a lake area designated to conservation of
birds and wild-life where designated walks are laid out and cycles can be
hired.
